Today, the catalogue opens with three hundred and ninety-three items — sorted, described, and, to the extent that anything about the house permits, catalogued in the traditional sense. Each item corresponds to a slogan, a register, and a moment that, in the estimation of the house, was worth writing down.
The catalogue is arranged by ten collections. Six of them describe the tenor of the item: The Confessional, Terms & Conditions, Courtship, Vices, Errata, Petty Crimes. One organises the objects that come in twos: The Pair Programme. Two are automatic, filled by activity rather than by taste: Best Sellers, New Arrivals. The tenth is Tees, which contains every item in the house — an admission that all of this is, in the end, printed cotton.
