About the House

Schmucks is a house of garments for people who have accepted what they are.

The catalogue was assembled without a target market in mind and without a market analysis attached. Each item was designed for a specific moment — one recognised on sight by the person it was designed for — and produced in a quantity befitting its likely audience.

The house takes its brief from a small collection of instructions, none of them written down. Chief among them: state the thing plainly. If it can be misread as a joke, that is the reader's discretion.

Nothing produced here is intended to change the wearer. Nothing produced here is intended to be worn ironically, either. The garments are for the exact use their labels describe. Any additional meaning is welcome, and is not the responsibility of the house.
